THAI YOGA

Thai Yoga is a gentle and restorative practice that is performed on a heavily padded floor mat while wearing loose and comfortable clothing. It involves slow, rhythmic movements, gentle stretching and traction, and the use of palming and thumbing along energy lines. When receiving a Thai Yoga massage, you will rely on passive active stretching, which means that you will relax into the stretch using only the force of your body weight and/or the weight applied by the Thai yoga practitioner.

To paint a better picture, imagine being guided through a slow, meditative, full-body series of deeply restorative yoga poses while massage and acupressure techniques are applied to your Sen (energy) lines. And now you know why Thai Yoga has been dubbed "The lazy man's Yoga".

The compression touch technique of palming and thumbing used in Thai Yoga works as an assistant pump to the heart, increasing blood flow without straining the heart. Additionally, the pressing and pulling of the extremities stimulate local circulatory pathways. Postures that raise the leg encourage the flow of blood back to the heart. The sooner blood returns to the heart, the sooner it begins its journey of delivering oxygen and nutrients to the body and removing waste materials through the venous and lymphatic systems.

In addition to stretching and toning muscles, Thai Yoga improves circulation, relieves muscular tension and spasms, expedites digestion and metabolism, boosts the immune system, balances the energetic body, and induces a calm mental state. By stretching and massaging the network of energy lines, Thai Yoga releases tension and promotes the free flow of prana, making the entire body more limber. By opening the body and improving energetic flow, one can alleviate common problematic conditions such as lower back pain, arthritis, headaches, digestive difficulties, and stress-related conditions. Thai Yoga also promotes centeredness, contentment, and improved sleep.

Benefits of Thai Yoga

Meet Corey Happel,

Healing & Holistic Lifestyle Practitioner

Corey turned to yoga as a form of physical maintenance after years of competitive sports and a profession that demanded constant travel. Six years later, after adopting a daily practice and enjoying the physical, mental and spiritual benefits that yoga has to offer, he quit his corporate sales career and became a yoga teacher. Since graduating from Yoga Teacher Training in March of 2019 Corey opened his yoga business, Yoga Bro, and has been providing low-cost private yoga to people who can’t or don’t want to practice in a group format or at a studio/gym.

With the desire for personal growth and the ability to make helping others a viable full-time career, Corey has made heavy investments in related healing/holistic lifestyle modalities such as Reiki, Kundalini Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Sound Healing, Bhakti and Mantra, Access Bars and Thai Yoga. Corey can be found leading public group sound bath and yoga workshops at various yoga studios all over Bucks County and the surrounding areas.

At home in Doylestown, PA Corey is a husband and father to 3 teens. He loves walking and playing with his Yorkie-Poo, enjoying nature, listening to mantra music, combining travel with yoga trainings and cooking for the family. Corey’s favorite charitable organization is Hayden’s House, a non-profit organization that provides counseling and retreat services to families who have lost children. Corey loves the opportunity to donate his yoga and sound healing services to this very special group of people.
